DOUGLAS LOVE, Producing Artistic Director
Well known as a best-selling children's author, playwright, and television producer, Douglas Love is a multi-faceted talent. Mr. Love is dedicated to creating quality, world-premiere productions for Walden Family Playhouse that delight and engage youth of all ages, and carry clear messages and educational content for today's world.

Douglas Love's first major recognition came at age 20 when Marlo Thomas enthusiastically accepted his adaptation of "Free To Be You And Me" which he went on to produce and direct in major Broadway roadhouses. During his early 20s, Mr. Love continued his commitment of energy and ideas for children's enrichment. He wrote, produced, and directed his own original productions, selling more than a million tickets.

Mr. Love signed his first publishing contract with HarperCollins at age 24. Twenty books in five years followed, accompanied by book signing tours and speaking engagements, most notably as a featured speaker at the American Bookseller Association Conference in Los Angeles in 1994, an honor rarely given new authors.

Love is also Creator and Executive Producer of the hit, award-winning, daily television series, "Out of the Box" on the Disney Channel. The highest rated daytime series on the channel since its premier, "Out of the Box" still receives excellent reviews and ratings after nearly 100 episodes. In addition, Mr. Love is the Creator and Executive Producer of the animated series, "Jammin' Animals" for HBO Family. Mr. Love also contributed regular segments to the ABC news magazine show "Lifetime Live" as the children's creativity expert, producer, and host, sharing tips from his numerous books on how parents can have quality interactions with their children.



ROBIN MATHIESEN, General Manager/Executive in Charge of Production
Mathiesen comes to the Walden Family Playhouse from New York with producing credits from Broadway, Edmund Kean , Accidental Death of an Anarchist , La Tragedie De Carmen , Play Emory and 84 Charing Cross Road ; Radio City Music Hall, Christmas At Radio City Music Hall , Easter at Radio City Music Hall ; and regional theatre productions of West Side Story , Funny Girl , Oliver and Sound of Music . Mathiesen has extensive experience in television, producing Next Big Star (PAX), Out of the Box (Disney), Uptown Comedy Club (FOX), Caribbean Music Awards (BET), Showtime at the Apollo (NBC), The Tony Award's '83-'86, (CBS), Live from Lincoln Center (PBS) and Night of 100 Stars (ABC). As director of the production management at MTV Networks, she supervised the production of 250 television programs, including Real World , Beavis & Butthead , The MTV Movie Awards , Total Request Live and MTV New Years Eve .



SHEILA SEARS, Managing Director of Educational Outreach
Sears comes to the Walden Family Playhouse after twenty-five years of leadership in non-profit arts and education organizations. Most recently, Sheila was the Executive Director of Young Audiences of Colorado, a statewide arts in education organization which provides artist residencies and teacher professional development in the literary, performing, and visual arts. Among other community involvements, Sheila has served on the boards of the gubernatorial-appointed Colorado Council on the Arts, on the executive board of the Colorado Alliance for Arts Education, and on the Scientific and Cultural Facilities District Cultural Competency Task Force. She also served as a Fellow in the National Endowment for the Arts Local Programs Office, and designed and administered the public art program for Coors Field.



Ronda Berkeley, Director of Development
Berkeley recently produced the world premiere interactive musical Class Reunion in Nashville for Love Letters, Ltd. She developed and co-produced the Lifetime movie Jitters and associate produced the ABC television movie Trial By Fire . Berkeley was integral in the development of the feature films Imagining Nathan (Universal) and Labor of Love (Twentieth Century Fox), and the television movies Cold Sassy Tree (TNT) and Golden Globe winner Dirty Pictures (Showtime). As a story editor at Lifetime Television, USA Network and The Sci-Fi Channel, Berkeley developed over 20 television movies. During her tenure as associate artistic director of Aman World Music and Dance, she was integral in the development of new works for the performing company and the creation and implementation of classroom curriculum for students and teachers in one of the largest educational outreach programs in the country. She is a past winner of the Lester Horton Award for production of multi-cultural dance and music.



Gretta Assaly, Associate Producer/Theatre School Director
Assaly directed and choreographed KABUKI GIFT and choreographed TOBY AND THE BIG TOP at Walden Family Playhouse. Gretta Assaly holds a B.A. and an Honors B.A. in English literature from the University of Manitoba. She has directed and choreographed theatre and opera productions throughout the United States. Assaly is director of the nationally renowned Children's Theatre School that offers classes to children ages 5 to 15 in theatre and creative movement. Prior to founding the Children's Theatre School ten years ago, she ran the Children's Creative Movement Program for the University of Wisconsin kids' outreach program College for Kids. She choreographed for the children's television show Out of the Box and conducted workshops in musical theatre in London for the University of Delaware. Assaly studied with the Royal Academy of Dance, performing at the Wimbledon Theatre in London, Paris and New York. Assaly also serves as Associate Producer at Walden Family Playhouse and is the director of the new Walden Family Playhouse theatre school, The Workshop.
